:::: Plant Wisdom Wednesday :::: For Wise Women & Wise Guys

Exited to start a garden, and want to make sure you are including easy to use medicinal plants? Gardening already, but want to incorporate more medicinal herbs? This workshop is designed for you! We will cover topic such: as cold stratification of seeds, harvesting techniques for herbal medicine making, creating successful habitat for pollinators, choosing multifunctionality in plants, ensuring successional planting, thinking beyond the honeybee and more. We will also explore what plants might bring us the best healing remedies, and highlight some favorite herbs for developing your own home apothecary. Finally, we will cover additional educational resources, and participants will go home with a small selection of medicinal herb seeds.

Melody is the founder of Pleasant Valley Botanicals, a "farmlet" in Northwest CT committed to growing vibrant medicinal and culinary herbs for the local community. She is committed to growing, sharing and educating about medicinal herbs because of her belief in medicinal herbs as integral parts of affordable and holistic health care and agricultural systems. Melody is currently working on a USDA-funded research grant looking at crop yield and disease resistance of crops planted with soil fungal inoculants. Pleasant Valley Botanicals' goal is to work toward sustainable food and health care systems, and a holistic approach to health and wellness of people, plants and planet.  Find out more at:
