EARTH'S RISING SONS - An Initiation for Men led by Women

Screen Shot 2019-03-14 at 9.15.10 AM.png

An Initiation for Men led by Women - 7 Weekends over 7 Months - Brattleboro, VT

This seven month initiation, is being lead by and held by women who have been on the GodDESS path as priestesses, medicine women, healers, and teachers.  We will be sharing with you, from the feminine perspective and view, the ways in which we see the masculine. This is not a training on how to be more feminine..this is about having an opportunity to be in circle, with women who have gone deep into the feminine teachings, so that you can experience the depth of who we are, to better identify yourself.

This group will meet for seven weekends. This is a commitment. To show up for yourself, for our world, for Her. We want to work with men who are ready- To both listen, and speak, and share,
And to rise out of the old construct of what defines masculinity into a new form. In nature, masculine is on the outside, it holds, supports, and acts. The feminine is in the inside, in the center. Our mission is to restore our nature, and make right where we have gone wrong. The Patriarchy has placed the masculine into a dominant position. This has hurt both men and women. It's time to heal, and to return.

Through ceremony, prayer, sacred space, and ritual, we will enter into the temple of the Goddess together, to remember what has been forgotten-
We are all Her children.
We walk upon Her together.
And She is calling us home.
She is calling Her sons,
To stand strong in who they are,
And to stand up for Her.
She is calling Her warriors,
To serve what needs to be served-
Humanity, truth, justice, and love.

Introduction to Herbal Soap Making

Screen Shot 2019-02-28 at 2.13.10 PM.png

Plant Wisdom Wednesday: Intro to Herbal Soap Making with Becky Sterling

Have you always wanted to learn how to make soap? What better way than to learn how to make it naturally and how to incorporate herbs as well! Join us as local herbalist and soap maker Becky Sterling demystifies the soap making process as we make a batch together! You will learn soap making basics from safety, tools and supplies to use and avoid, to learning how to turn that basic bar of soap into an herbal soap by using plants to help heal the skin. You will leave with handouts that will include a resource guide & soap recipe, a free mini bar of natural soap, and a new life skill!

Becky has led an ‘alternative health’ lifestyle for over 15 years and has been studying herbalism specifically for the last 5 years. She has always been drawn down the less traveled roads and loves finding the off-the-beaten-path ways of incorporating herbs, health, and happiness into her life. Her business, Second Sight, is so named because it took a lifetime of circumstances, as well as mental alignment, and even actual vision impairment for her to see what her path is supposed to be. It is one of herbalism, creativity, and sharing her know-how.

WILLOW :: ANCESTRAL PLANT RELATIONSHIPS

Screen Shot 2019-02-27 at 4.05.22 PM.png

with Lupo Passero & Zach Fisher

Our ancestors come in not only human form, but in plant form as well.  Human beings and plants beings have been co-evolving together for over 200,000 years.  There is a unspoken language between plants and people that our ancestors knew and understood. Deciphering the Language of Plants is an imperative for building and fostering “right” relationships with all living beings. Our ancestors knew each plant and tree intimately and could tell you the story of each species including its medicinal, edible, and utilitarian uses, but more importantly the spiritual and emotional healing virtues as well.

The Ancestral Plant Relationship Series is about re-membering plant medicine in all of its forms and deepening our close and personal understanding of the green world.  We will work with a different plant or tree each class and will include and overview and introduction to the medicinal, edible, utilitarian & spiritual uses. We will spend the day thoroughly getting to know each plant as an individual, will make a variety of preparations with the plant and will end the day with Green Breath, or another profound plant spirit ceremony which offers the participants a chance to journey into with the spirit of the plant.

All participants will make and take home several cedar herbal and primitive preparations.

Heart of Pachamama: Shamanic Journeying Class Series

deana2.png

with Deana Paqua of Embody the Sacred

In this series, we will work with the contemporary practice of Shamanic Journeying, a meditative practice to the beat of the drum, where we will deepen our relationship with the Heart of Pachamama/Mother Earth. We will also learn traditional mystical teachings of the Andes, where we will learn about the Seven Layers of Pachamama. We will safely explore these energetic layers of our beautiful Mother Earth, learn how to work with them in our everyday lives and healing practices, and strengthen our connection and appreciation of Pachamama's abundant gifts. We will also learn about gemstones, essences and plant allies that can assist us in understanding these beautiful teachings.

We will also cover how to journey safely in sacred space, incorporating energy clearing and protection techniques along with some basic practices from the indigenous healers and mystics of the Andes.

This is an introductory and foundational course for beginners and more practiced students to learn techniques for their own personal use. It's best if students have some basic shamanic journeying experience. This course; however, is not training to become a “Shaman.” A Shaman is a medicine person who hails from specific tribes in Siberia, Mongolia and a few other places across the globe who has been given this title of honor by their community, and practices their healing work in specific ways by going into trance and embodying the spirit of one of their ancestors. The teachings we will be learning are from contemporary Shamanic practices and from the Andes, directly from Don Mariano Quispe Flores of the Q'ero tribe. Don Mariano is a Priest, Healer and Mystic, known as a Paco, and as an elder with over 45 years' experience, he is also known as a Kuraq Aqullak. Though the Q'ero are frequently referred to as Shamans, technically they are not, as their practices differ from traditional Shamans but are equally beautiful, potent and life-changing.

These earth-honoring, spiritual practices are open to all of us as we honor indigenous cultures by respecting their specific titles and traditions, and sharing the traditional teachings that we have been given permission to share. In this way, we work with integrity and learn to connect to our own experiences of the Divine and deepen our connections to each other, our Ancestors, the Heavens and the Earth.

Dates: May 14 & 21, June 4 & 18, 6:30-9pm

To register, contact Deana Paqua at deana.paqua@gmail.com, or 203-994-5045. Cost is $227 for this program including materials. Discount available for current Twin Star Students and Shamanic Practitioner Program (through Embody the Sacred), $197.

Plant Wisdom Wednesday: A Feng Shui Garden with Medicinal Plants with Rose Garbien

Learn to design a medicinal garden using an ancient Feng Shui Bagua Map. The practice of Feng Shui goes back about 4,000 years. It is about the energy, the chi, in our enviroment, what is closest to us has the most effect on us. The map, or Bagua, has 9 different areas of our lives. Each one is associated with a color,  shape, body part and family member, just to name a few. Students will learn which areas of the Bagua which are associated with the different body parts and which plants work best in each area. No previous gardening experience is necessary. Students will receive a Lavender plant to take home with the intention that it will be prosperous and bring them the much wealth!

Rose Garbien used to think Feng Shui was just moving furniture around, but in 2017 she was introduced to BTB Feng Shui and was hooked!  Rose is a certified Feng Shui consultant with Karen Rauch Carter, Inspired Feng Shui. She has studied the IChing with Barry Gordan, and is also certified with Laura Morris and Anjie Cho of the Mindful Design BTB Feng Shui School. Fox Walking, Plants Talking, Nature Awareness Play Shop with Zach Fisher & Lupo Passero

If you ask any indigenous medicine man or women how they learned about the medicinal uses of the plants, they will tell you that the plants told them.  This type of deep natural instinct is alive in all of us, but many of us have forgotten how to harness that connection.  In this afternoon play shop, we will cover the principles of Instinct and Awareness, how we can use them to enhance our everyday experiences as nature lovers, herbalists and animal enthusiasts. We will discover how to move with nature and let our senses play freely using exercises and games to reawaken our inner dialogue and intuition.  We will collectively work to deepen our awareness and understanding of how animals and plants “speak” to us. There are so many layers to this experience, and a fantastic class for folks of all ages.

Through our hearts, we experience emotions ranging from grief and sorrow, to joy and love. How can we take care of this vital organ that senses so much of the world around us? During this workshop, we will explore our individual heart's needs through guided meditation, discussion, and other activities. We will talk about herbs, flower essences, and other healing tools that can protect our heart's vulnerabilities as well as improves its capacity to fully express and receive joy and love. We will also craft individualized remedies for everyone to take home.

Haley has been taking classes at Twin Star since 2014, completing trainings that include Foundations of Herbalism, Practices and Protocols of Herbalism, Flower Essence Practitioner Training in Costa Rica, and the Seed to Market Advanced Herbal Training. Before coming to Twin Star, she completed her bachelor's degree in Natural History and Environmental Humanities at Sterling College (VT), so her knowledge of plants also extends to their ecological roles and stories. Currently, Haley is working in the apothecary after completing Twin Star’s 7 month mentorship program as an Herbal Apprentice. She spends her days blending teas, inventorying our selection of beautiful herbs, wildcrafting, coming up with new recipes, and much more. What draws Haley in the most when studying herbal medicine, is learning about the ways plants help us heal on an emotional and spiritual level. As an herbalist, she hopes to inspire people to connect with the plants that grow around them, and empower them to incorporate those plants into their everyday life.

Nettle: Ancestral Plant Relationships

nettle flip small.png

with Lupo Passero & Zach Fisher

We will spend the day thoroughly getting to know each plant as an individual, will make a variety of preparations with the plant and will end the day with Green Breath, a shamanic plant spirit ceremony which offers the participants a chance to journey into with the spirit of the plant.

All participants will make and take home several nettle herbal and primitive preparations.

13 Moons Women's Healing Circle

Screen Shot 2019-01-02 at 12.55.32 PM.png

This month Haley Neddermann leads the circle in "Eye Gazing - Soul Vision"

The simple yet powerful practice of eye gazing (also called 'soul vision') is a way for us to experience being without the attachments of ego, and create true connection with others. During our moon circle, we will have the chance to practice this cathartic ritual with two different partners, giving us the opportunity to compare and contrast our experiences. Together we will explore what mirrors we can be for each other, and what stories we are able to access across space and time. Each 'round' lasts 10 - 15 minutes, and is guided by verbal cues. My hope is that we will have a chance to share with our partners and with the entire circle our different experiences.

Since the dawn of our existence women have been gathering together as daughters, sisters, mothers and as healers. Powerful stories have been shared, tears have been shed and many magical moments of healing, strength and love have occurred. It is in honor of this ancient tradition that the 13 Moons - A Women’s Healing Circle has been created. Beginning in January, each month meeting on the first Thursday (Jan & July the second Thursday), we will explore a variety of topics including: sacred healing, women’s plant allies and the wise woman tradition. We will create rituals for honoring our many phases and explore our role as women, sisters and community healers. The circle will be a private and sacred group, open and inclusive to all who identify as women.

Screen Shot 2018-11-23 at 10.37.22 AM.png

Join us for this monthly community herbal herbal class. Learn about new plants or herbal healing subjects each month and gain a better understanding of how to incorporate their healing remedies into your life.

BOTANY FOR HERBALISTS
Just like us, plants have a variety of different body parts. These parts all have special, important functions that help the plant live a strong, healthy life. Botany is a part of science that focuses on the study of plants and plant parts. Knowing some basic botany helps herbalists to recognize & identify plants and understand which parts are used in medicinal remedies. Knowing about botany helps you understand the language of plants and how they "talk" to us. In the Plant Wisdom Wednesday, herbalist Haley Neddermann will go over plant parts, shapes and textures, identifying features and more! Getting more familiar with the science of botany can be a very helpful tool for an herbalist in getting to know our herbal allies on a better level!

In the intervening 23 years she has attended hundreds of trade shows, conventions and conferences all over the world in the cannabis space. She has also made almost a dozen trips to India starting in 1994 with a deep interest in the continent’s relationship with psychoactive plants and in particular the traditional uses of cannabis as sacrament and medicine.

Since 2014 she has been working in the new world of legal and medical marijuana consulting on edibles and creating product-lines for companies in CT and Oregon, drawing on her more than 25 years of experience collaborating with this powerful plant ally. Recently she has been developing CBD products in VT, working on refining her skill at tincture and salve-making. She presently works for Dank Fung Extracts which develops high-end vaporizers and for Rosin Tech the cutting edge company for live-resin presses and solvent-less extraction. Cassandra feels that the corporate take-over of the cannabis industry needs to be counterbalanced with open-source sharing of ancient plant knowledge that belongs to no one and everyone. As her friend Michka wrote, “Free access to plants is a birthright of all living creatures.”

Sometimes learning about healing herbs can be overwhelming. There are so many plants to meet and learn about! Even in one cup of tea there can be a beautiful synergy of a dozen different herbs, flowers, roots and more!

Here at Twin Star we like to think of plants as friends, allies, & partners. Much like new friends, it is much easier and magical getting to know each Plant Partner one by one. Join us in this new monthly event at Twin Star Herbal Education as we take the time to meet one plant ally at a time. We will discuss botany, parts used, actions, energies, traditional uses, essences, remedies and more! There will be visual and tangible examples of the herb, along with various different remedies made with the herb to taste, smell and feel. Each month you will go home with informational handouts, herbal remedy recipes and some dried herb to experiment with!

This is a great opportunity for anyone who is brand new to the healing herbal world wanting to learn about healing plants and perfect for the budding herbalist to dive deeper in relationship with our herbal allies.

ANCESTRAL PLANT RELATIONSHIPS

FullSizeRender.jpg

with Lupo Passero & Zach Fisher

We will spend the day thoroughly getting to know each plant as an individual, will make a variety of preparations with the plant and will end the day with Green Breath, a shamanic plant spirit ceremony which offers the participants a chance to journey into with the spirit of the plant.

All participants will make and take home a pine bark baskets in addition to several herbal preparations.

The Herbal Witch :: Magical Herbalism & The Way of the Witches

Screen Shot 2017-12-05 at 10.16.16 PM.png

Hosted by Lupo Passero & Rebekah Sutter

From the very beginning it has been the Herbal or Green  Witch who has been the keeper of the healing plants and the ancient ways. From the smallest village to the largest city across the globe, common folk have sought her out and relied upon her remedies and advice. This special woman, often trained by her mother, aunt or grandmother was who folks would turn to when they were in need of healing and magic as well. Today, the Herbal Witch may not always live close to the forest, but you likely will find her there working with the elements and gathering plants and remedies. Herbal Witches have long had a deep love for the plants, roots, seeds, stars and stones and know the medicinal, spiritual and healing properties of all that surrounds her. The wise Herbal Witch enlists nature to heal ailments of the body, mind and of the spirit.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::
She has a remedy for everything under the sun, and has likely prepared it by the light of the moon. Join us in remembering the Herbal Witch within.

13 Moons Women's Healing Circle

Join us for this circle where we will explore the lingering effects of the Beaver Full Moon in Gemini and dive deep to reignite our inner creativity and fire through ritual, connection and special meditation.

Since the dawn of our existence women have been gathering together as daughters, sisters, mothers and as healers. It is in honor of this ancient tradition that the 13 Moons - A Women’s Healing Circle has been created. This sacred healing circle will be offered evening a month. Under these 13 moons we will come together as women and healers. Each moon we will explore a variety of topics including: sacred healing, women’s plant allies and the wise woman tradition.  We will also create rituals for honoring our moon cycle, birth, death, divorce and more and will focus on positive manifestations, cutting cords and fully explore our role as women, sisters and community healers. The circle will be a private and sacred group, open to women or those who identify as woman. SURVIVAL SUNDAYS:  PRIMITIVE CRAFTING AND NATURE CONNECTION

IMG_7191.jpg

With Zach Fisher & Friends

Our existence today is directly related to the ingenuity of our Ancestors.  They were able to thrive in harsh environments due to their deep connection and understanding of the natural world.  This course is an introduction to the techniques as well as the mindset that sustained human life into our modern age.  Participants will work intimately with the environment, harvesting local materials and learning how to process them into usable tools and projects.  Additionally, we will study the ways that we can interact with our landscapes in a deeper and more meaningful way.  Through these traditions, we begin to understand and honor ourselves, the natural environment, and those who came before us.  Participants will walk away with finished projects such as baskets, bark containers, bone awls and needles, primitive jewelry, leather pouches, clay containers, as well as valuable survival skills that have been around for thousands of years.  We meet once a month with take home projects and exercises in between.

These holidays are celebrated by various branches of Paganism, including Wicca and Witchcraft. There are eight major Sabbats, and witches believe these eight holy days make up the Wheel of the Year.
