13 Moons Women's Healing Circle

Since the dawn of our existence women have been gathering together as daughters, sisters, mothers and as healers. Powerful stories have been shared, tears have been shed and many magical moments of healing, strength and love have occurred. It is in honor of this ancient tradition that the 13 Moons - A Women’s Healing Circle has been created. The circle will begin in June and will meet one evening a month. Under these 13 moons we will come together as women and healers. Each moon we will explore a variety of topics including: sacred healing, women’s plant allies and the wise woman tradition.  We will also create rituals for honoring our moon cycle, birth, death, divorce and more and will focus on positive manifestations, cutting cords and fully explore our role as women, sisters and community healers. The circle will be a private and sacred group, open to women or those who identify as woman. If you are interested in sharing in this experience and would like more information please send contact Bekah at bekahtwinstar@gmail.com

Growing Medicinal Herbs & The Role of Soil Fungi

Screen Shot 2018-04-06 at 2.44.54 PM.png

FREE COMMUNITY CLASS
Thur May 3, 6:30-8:00 pm
Twin Star Herb School, New Milford CT

Most medicinal herbs and vegetables have a wonderfully complex symbiotic relationship with soil microbes including fungi; in fact some plants can not live without their fungal allies. Using low tech, low cost and sustainable methods for supporting soil microbes can improve plant health, improve crop yield, sequester carbon to help battle climate change, increase the levels of valuable active constituents in medicinal herbs, and more!

This free community class, offered by Farmer Melody of Pleasant Valley Botanicals, will allow participants an opportunity to learn basic concepts about the role of fungi in soil health, as well as learn more about a regenerative agriculture method (made popular by Korean Natural Farming) of cultivating homegrown native Indigenous Microorganisms (IMO). Mel will also share the results of SARE field research project comparing different types of soil fungal inoculants on the crop yield of five medicinal herbs (Onions, Fennel, Parsley, Ashwagandha and Basil). She will also share her research on the role of fungi in helping plants resist crop diseases such as Basil Downy Mildew (hint, hint.... she will have some cool results to report!)

Herbal Alchemy: Introduction to Spagyric Preparations

Screen Shot 2018-04-03 at 3.11.16 PM.png

Alchemy is a term thrown around a lot in the world of natural medicines and products, but did you know that it is rooted in a traditional practice? In this class we will talk about the history and tradition of Alchemy as well as the philosophy and cosmology that underlie the Spagyric process and how that is practically applied to plant and mushroom works. Through understanding the historical context and tradition we will look at how to make potent and wholistic medicines from plants and mushrooms that are considered to be living medicines, and learn how to potententiate them by working with their astrological correspondences and influences, taking your understanding of the plants and the planets into a deeper heart centered understanding that can be applied for personal or community use. This class will be an overview of the Spagyric process, a practical introduction, with a demonstration on how to prepare Spagyric Tinctures to raise the potency of any medicines you make.

Jason Scott is a Mycologist, Ethnobotanist and Spagyricist who has studied traditional Hermetic Alchemy, from history and philosophy to practice, for the past 5 years. He has a background in Ethnobotany and Plant Medicine that started on the Big Island of Hawaii, and has carried back with him into his home: the Pacific North West. Born and raised in Oregon, Jason has an intrinsic interest in the Fungal Queendom and all of its aspects: from cultivation and mycoremediation, to historical and cultural relationships. Most specifically their medicinal application. Jason has studied various different healing modalities including Ayurveda in Nepal and Western Herbalism all over Oregon and Washington. He is on an ever-deepening journey of education to understand the practical applications of his interests, and the golden threads that connect them.

Shamanic Journeying Class Series – 4 Part Series Connecting Heaven and Earth

Screen Shot 2018-04-12 at 3.55.54 PM.png

With Deana Paqua, MA, LMT

Learn the contemporary practice of Shamanic Journeying, based on ancient techniques to connect with the Spirit world to meet with benevolent guides, angels, nature spirits and ancestors for the purpose of obtaining guidance, self-healing and self-empowerment. Safely explore the world of Spirit, meet your Power Animal and learn how to work with helping spirits in everyday life to improve health, happiness, intuition, and connection to Mother Earth.

We will discover the history of Shamanism, how it has transformed as a contemporary practice, and learn about the practices of traditional Shamans and how they differ from other medicine people. We will also cover how to journey safely in sacred space, incorporating energy clearing and protection techniques along with some basic practices from the indigenous healers  and mystics of the Andes.

This is an introductory and foundational course for beginners and more practiced students to learn techniques for their own personal use. Most of us have the ability to journey and no previous experience is needed.

This course; however, is not training to become a “Shaman.” A Shaman is a medicine person who hails from specific tribes in Siberia, Mongolia and a few other places across the globe who have been given this title of honor by their community.

Contemporary Shamanic practices are open to all of us as we honor indigenous and cultures by respecting their titles and traditions, and sharing traditional teachings that we have been given permission to share.  In this way, we work with integrity and learn to connect to our own spiritual power, ancestry and guidance which will truly support our evolution, healing and growth for the highest good of all.

Dates: June 19, June 26, July 10 and July 17th from 6:30-9pm, at Twin Star Herbal Education, 65 Bank Street, New Milford, CT 06776, twinstartribe.com.

To register, contact Deana Paqua at deana.paqua@gmail.com, or 203-994-5045. Cost is $197 for this program including materials ($177 for current Twin Star Students).

Sacred Herbs & Healing Waters of Southwest France

Come join us on our annual magical tour to Occitania in southwest France where we combine the magic of local herbs and sacred waters with the divine feminine teachings that are so present in this cherished corner of France.  Here we will be well off the beaten tourist-path, tucked away in the foothills of the Pyrenees; where the local esoteric history reaches back thousands of years.  It is the land of Mary Magdalene, Isis, White Ladies, the Cathars, Knights Templar, Celts and Black Madonnas which all have their part in the great Holy Grail mystery.  It’s a part of our world that until recently, has seemingly been left untouched. But don’t let that fool you. Traveling the small, winding roads of the Languedoc, you will marvel at the beauty and mystery of this sacred land.

Our home base will be in Rennes les Bains which is a famous spa village that dates back over 2000 years to when Roman nobility would “summer” here.  It is a village of less than 200 inhabitants, located on the Salz River with it’s own natural thermal baths.  Every day you will have the opportunity to bathe in the thermal waters that so many have come to for healing for thousands of years. Local lore says that Mary Magdalene baptised and performed healing in this river.

Surrounded by nature in this powerful energetic landscape, we will create ceremony, follow with the eyes of history and take part in daily herbal and energetic healing classes. Community Herbalist and Flower Essence Practitioner Lupo Passero will lead the group on plant walks, talks and botanical lessons throughout the region. Under her guidance we will make herbal remedies, flower essences and water remedies. She will lead us in powerful and loving ceremonies of plant spirit healing. It is against this backdrop where we will meet, interact and study many of Europe’s native plants and trusted herbal allies and where we will immerse ourselves in the local healing waters which are found in the rivers, streams, lakes and springs and create beautiful water essences. You will soon come to understand why the waters here have been revered for thousands of years.

This trip is perfect for all levels of herbal experience; whether you are a beginner, the “budding” herbalist or if you’re an experienced herbalist and would like a deeper understanding of sacred plant medicine. Each day will include time with our herbal allies, interaction with the local waters and time for exploring the rich history of this sacred land.  At the end of this tour, each participant will be awarded a Certificate of Completion to commemorate what we have discovered and learned on this trip.
Twin Star specializes in empowering the Divine Feminine in all of us by leading people to sacred, off-the-beaten path sites, rich in botanical lore.  Our trips encourage individuals to deepen their plant-soul connection.  By gently walking the Earth in these special places, our alliance to Spirit is strengthened.  Through this unification, we come back to our lives and shine the light that we are.

The Herbal Witch :: Magical Herbalism & The Way of the Witches

Screen Shot 2017-12-05 at 10.16.16 PM.png

Hosted by Lupo Passero & Rebekah Sutter

From the very beginning it has been the Herbal or Green  Witch who has been the keeper of the healing plants and the ancient ways. From the smallest village to the largest city across the globe, common folk have sought her out and relied upon her remedies and advice. This special woman, often trained by her mother, aunt or grandmother was who folks would turn to when they were in need of healing and magic as well. Today, the Herbal Witch may not always live close to the forest, but you likely will find her there working with the elements and gathering plants and remedies. Herbal Witches have long had a deep love for the plants, roots, seeds, stars and stones and know the medicinal, spiritual and healing properties of all that surrounds her. The wise Herbal Witch enlists nature to heal ailments of the body, mind and of the spirit.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::
She has a remedy for everything under the sun, and has likely prepared it by the light of the moon. Join us in remembering the Herbal Witch within.

Magic Mushrooms: A Lecture Based on Clinical Research

3.jpg

Plant Wisdom Wednesday Magic Mushrooms: A Lecture Based on Clinical Research

with Katherine MacLean, PhD

Many of us have faced challenging moments, transitions, and even spiritual awakenings in our lives that require us to step back from our normal responsibilities and obligations, get in touch with our deepest feelings and memories, and then learn how to live again with a new sense of purpose and place in the world. The natural transitions that inspire and challenge us the most can include birth, sickness, death and loss. But it is also becoming more common for people to make a choice to enter into the sacred space of transition, growth and healing through the use of psychedelics. And clinical research is beginning to demonstrate health-related benefits of psychedelic substances, such as reductions in existential anxiety with psilocybin mushrooms, improvements in depressive symptoms with ayahuasca, elimination of opiate addiction with iboga, and successful treatment of post-traumatic stress disorder with MDMA.

In this workshop, Katherine MacLean, PhD will focus on her research into psilocybin, the main psychoactive chemical found in magic mushrooms. Psilocybin mushrooms grow naturally all over the world and have been used for thousands of years for healing, divination and communication with the spirit worlds. Based upon her years as a researcher and psychedelic guide at Johns Hopkins University, Katherine will discuss the process of integration and lead the group through an experiential meditation practice and sharing circle. Participants will go home with an essential oil & flower essence roll on to help with recreating the meditation & integrate the newly acquired information into your daily life.

Information provided during this class is for educational and entertainment purposes only.
