2020 RE-MEMBERING THE EMERALD ISLE

For those of Native European decent, many of our stories, legacies and earth medicines have been stripped from us, burned, buried and nearly lost over time. But it was not that long ago that our ancestors were still closely connected to the Earth and the centuries of healing practices, ritual and ceremonies of the land were alive and well. These practices were past down via the oral tradition and so it is, in that spirit, that we re-member and continue to celebrate and honor the healing legacy of the wild Irish roots. You do not have to be of Irish/European decent to join us on this journey, for all earth religions are the Peoples Medicines and teachings of the Earth are meant to be shared, borrowed, explored and expanded upon. If you have the call, in your heart, to get back to the land, worship in nature, celebrate with community and rise in spirit, then is is the place for you. We hope you will join us.

Journey Through the Wheel celebrates the sabbats or major holidays based on ancient pagan and earth based religions and traditions. These holidays (holy days) are celebrated by various branches of Paganism, including Wicca and Witchcraft throughout Europe. This year we will be honoring the Roots of the Irish Druids and focusing on the traditions, rituals and ceremonies from the Emerald Isle. Lupo is a third generation Irish-American and comes from a long line of Druids and Healers who stem from Knocknashee, known as the legendary “Hill of the Faeries”, one of Ireland’s seven most sacred hills. The name comes from the Irish “knock” (cnoc) meaning “hill” and “shee” meaning “fairy”. At the foot of this his legendary “Hill of the Fairy’s” is the original home of Lupo’s Great Grandmother Mary Gilgan, who left county Sligo at 17 to start a new life for herself in New York City. Over the past few years Lupo has been visiting Ireland and the lands where her ancestors resided for centuries, reconnecting, remembering and recommitting to the Pre Christian, Earth Centered healing path and medicine way.

There are eight Sabbats that witches, pagans, druids and others believe that make up the what is called the Wheel of the Year. These Sabbats, or holy-days are based on ancient pagan holidays marking the changing of the seasons, specifically the earth's changing rotation and relationship with the sun and the stars. There are cross-quarterly days and quarterly days. The cross-quarter days are also known as the Major Fire Festivals and include: Imbolc, Beltane, Lammas, and Samhain. The quarter days are made up by the Equinoxes (spring and autumn) and the Solstices (summer and winter).

Join us as we meet throughout the year (as close to these holy-days) as possible to celebrate the seasons and each turn of the wheel while remembering the wild Irish roots and the legacy of the emerald Isle.  Each gathering with be filled with ceremony and ritual as well as traditional prayers and songs in celebration of the quarterly and cross quarterly holy-days.  We will honor the ancestors, ancient rites of passages, elements and healing herbs associated with each each of the Sabbats.
