The Practicing Herbalist with Lupo Passero & Ilana Sobo

Is it time to take your herbal medicine studies to the next level? Would you like to learn how to begin to work with family, friends and community members to help them to find health and wellness through herbalism? Have you already studied herbalism and participated in courses earning over 300 hours of study? Then this course is for you! This nine-month immersion course is meant to help you take the steps to becoming an Herbal Practitioner.  Skills you will learn include holistic approaches to disease, how to take a health history, traditional assessment skills, how to determine what herbal remedies to use, holistic counseling skills, and energetic medicines as well as a three-part training on traditional approaches to Ayurveda.  Advanced herbal students will participate in a variety of experiences including, observing seasoned herbalists, round table learning exercises, putting your herbal education into practice and beginning to comfortably work with friends, family and community members.

Pre-requisites: Graduation from combined 300-hour herbal education programs and a Flower Essence Training* or ability to show equivalent training or mentorship is required. Students are expected to know basic anatomy and physiology, medicine making skills, flower essence therapy, and have compiled a materia medica portfolio.

*Twin Star’s Foundations of Herbalism, Practice and Protocol of Herbalism and The Art of Flower Essence Therapy courses are accepted pre-requisites.


Classes: We will cover Communication and Mindful Listening Skills, Assessment Skills (tongue/pulse/facial), Holistic Intakes and Forms, Steps to a visit, Intro to Apothecary Herbalism, Ayurvedic Approaches to Herbalism, Intuitive Herbalism, How to Properly Research Herbs & Drug/Herb Interactions, Basic Health Assessment Skills, Recognizing Red Flags, Popular Supplements, Herbal Legalities, Ethics and Boundaries, Community Outreach and Marketing, Community Herbalism in Action, Setting up a Practice and Holistic Round Table Sessions.

Part One – Classes April- August (five months/10 classes)
All classes online unless noted:
April 20 (in person), April 27, May 4, May 18, June 8, June 22, (in person), July 13, July 27, August 3, August 17  (in person)

Part Two – September – December (8 consults + herbal mentorship)

Application and Interview: Please note that an application and interview are required before acceptance to this program.

​Tuition: Tuition is $3200.00 A $500 non-refundable deposit is due upon acceptance to reserve your place; this is applied towards tuition. The remaining $2700 can be paid at once or payment plans are available at $300 a month April – December and due on the first of each month.
