  • Firestorm Co-op is acting as an in-person resource and information hub over the coming days, with staffing from noon to 4pm. A daily meeting at 2pm serves as a space for neighbors to get verified updates and coordinate mutual aid efforts. Address: 1022 Haywood Rd, Asheville NC

  • Rural Organizing and Resilience is working on setting up a mutual aid fund in Madison County. They are asking for donated items. You can find more information here.

  • There are general population shelters available at Conference Center at AB Tech.

    • AB Tech Conference Center, 16 Fernihurst Dr, Asheville, NC 28801 (Please use Victoria Road Entrance.)

    • Medical Emergency Shelter (for individuals who are dependent on medical equipment requiring power) located at 10 Genevieve Circle in Asheville

    Buncombe County said anyone coming to a shelter needs to bring the following:

    • Special items for children such as food/formula, diapers, extra clothing, toys, etc.

    • Prescription medications and other medical devices you may need

    • Comfort items like pillows, blankets, towels, changes of clothing or other items you’d like to have with you at the shelter.

    The shelters are staffed with a mixture of Red Cross and Buncombe County employees. (Information from WRAL News)

LOCAL RESOURCES

  • FREE FOOD ALERT — Cousins in Black Mountain is giving away food, Rosetta is open as a Soup Kitchen

  • World Central Kitchen is looking for volunteers and is helping thousands get fed. Help them here.

  • The Well in West Asheville is acting as a water distribution site (3 Louisiana Ave, Asheville) They also need jugs!!

FOOD & water

  • Waste Pro will collect their normal Thursday route trash with plans to ramp up service soon.

  • Curbie Recycling will resume services ASAP starting in Fletcher

  • Weaverville may receive trash service by Monday.
