Episode 02: Remembering the Sacred Roots and Ritual of Plant Medicine

In this episode, we return to the oral tradition through the ancient rhythm of story, presence, and remembrance.

We speak of plants not as things to be used, but as beings to be known. We speak of healing not as something we achieve, but something we tend. This is not just herbalism, it is the practice of remembering. Of walking back through the stories, the prayers, and the rituals that once lived in kitchens, gardens, and wild places… and that still live in our bones.

You’ll hear the stories I carry from my own lineages:
Of Irish women who rose before dawn to gather yarrow and whisper to the elder trees…
Of healers in Southern Italy who made amulets of silver and rue, and turned rosemary into protection with moonlight and prayer…
Of Mexican curanderas who sweep the body with basil and rue, light candles for the ancestors, and let smoke carry sorrow into the sky…
Of Costa Rican plant baths where herbs are poured over the body while prayers are spoken, and dreams guide the healer more than books ever could…
Of Indigenous North American traditions where every plant is greeted with an offering, and cedar, sweetgrass, and sage are not just medicine, but sacred relations.

This episode is an invitation to remember that ritual was never something separate from herbalism. It lives in the songs, the silences, the offerings. In the way your grandmother made tea when someone was sick. In the way your people once honored the land they lived on.

Even if those memories feel far away, they are not gone. They live in our body. They wait in our hands. They whisper through the plants that grow around us.

So come and listen. You are invited to slow down and sit in the space where medicine is not just made, but remembered.

Let this be a remembrance of something older. Let this be a return to what we already know.
