This special person, often trained by an elder, was who folks would turn to when they were in need of healing and magic as well. They wander the woodlands in search of mystery, they dance by the light of the moon and sing around sacred fires. They know where the sun rises and where it sets. Their hearts beat to the rhythms of the seasons; they flow effortlessly with the cycles of life, death and rebirth. They listen to the wisdom and teachings of the plants and knows which ones to call upon in times of need.
Today, the Herbal Witch may not always live close to the forest, but you likely will find them there, working with the elements and gathering plants and remedies. Herbal Witches have long had a deep love for the plants, roots, seeds, stars and stones and know the medicinal, spiritual and healing properties of all that surrounds them. The wise Herbal Witch enlists nature to heal ailments of the body, mind and of the spirit. They have a remedy for everything under the sun, and have likely prepared it by the light of the moon.
Join us in remembering the Herbal Witch within. This weekend course was designed to walk each participant through what it is to practice as an Herbal Witch. Beginning with the History of world wide Green Witch Traditions, working with the directions & elements to create powerful spells, prayers, magic, rituals, ceremony and song. Deepening our relationships to Mother Nature and the magical and medicinal herbs She provides.
This course is meant to empower folks to utilize the magic and magnificence of herbal witchcraft each and everyday!

This class will take place over the course of one weekend in Asheville, NC. We will meet Friday May 16th, 2026 at night from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and Saturday May 17th, 2026 and Sunday May 18th from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. at Red Moon Herbs in the Church of the Holy Basil.

Lupo Passero
Lupo grew up in woods of the Northeast, her paternal Grandmother was a wise woman, a Strega, from Southern Italy. Her Great Grandmother came from Knocknashee, the Druid Hill of the Fae, in Ireland. Since childhood she has been creating circles, hosting ceremonies, and holding ritual space for others. At 18 she was pulled to the heart of the Appalachian Mountains where she began her botanical studies with a variety of folks, namely the plants but also many great human teachers as well. At an early age she also participated in Moon Circles and was introduced to the Goddess tradition which helped to connect the dots to her Celtic and Italian American heritage. It was in this overlap of studies where she was first began to integrate the concept of the Green Witch and began deeply connecting with the natural world. For decades Lupo has studied and had the privilege to teach thousands of students the art of energetic and spiritual herbalism, the way of the Green Witch and ancestral healing, which has always centered around ceremonial and earth-based practices. Lupo has deepened her relationship within her own lineage as well as many others by sitting at the feet of as many teachers as possible.

Completion of a foundational herbal studies program or equivalent experience is required before enrolling in this 200-hour Community Herbalist Certificate, which also serves as the prerequisite for our Practicing Herbalist Clinical Program.
If you have taken our Foundations of Herbalism program, that counts as fulfillment.

We have two in-person medicine making immersions on April 11th and July 11th at our Twin Star South classroom in the beautiful Asheville, NC and at our Twin Star North classroom in the beautiful New Milford, CT allowing you to be amongst the magic of the mountains and to learn from some of our amazing group of guest teachers.
